Fall 2021 Faculty News

Higher education relies on reinvigoration and renewal in the addition of new faculty. Welcoming new faces, thoughts, and perspectives into the faculty ranks is a critical opportunity to maintain our faculty as a vital resource of the College, University, and society at large. For the 2021-2022 academic year, we have added seven new faculty to our college.

In addition, four faculty members in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business were recognized for their outstanding performance in the award of tenure and/or promotion.

Dr. Jae Kyun Yoo
Assistant Professor of Management

Dr. Chen Zhao
Assistant Professor of Accounting

  • Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from West Virginia University
  • M.B.A. and an M.S. in Finance (with a focus on energy finance) degree from West Virginia University
  • B.A. from Nankai University in China

Award of Tenure and Promotion to Associate Professor

Tenure is a career milestone that demonstrates long-term viability and contribution and is the result of extensive peer review and recommendation for advancement at the department, college, and university levels. This process culminates with final approval by President Walter Wendler and The Texas A&M Board of Regents. Drs. Chauhan, Hoffman, and King have each earned this honor and will continue to bolster, support, and lead the college in their respective areas.

Dr. Rahul Chauhan
Associate Professor of Management

Rahul Chauhan joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2015. He received a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Management from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2010, an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 2012, and Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a Management concentration at the University of Oklahoma in 2015.

Dr. Eric Hoffmann
Associate Professor of Economics

Dr. Hoffmann joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2016.  He received a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Central Florida in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kansas in 2015.  He was named the T. Boone Pickens Professor of Economics in 2019.

Associate Professor of Marketing

Dr. King joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2015. He received a B.B.A. in Marketing from West Texas A&M University in 2008, an M.B.A. in Marketing from West Texas A&M University in 2010, an M.S. in Finance & Economics from West Texas A&M University in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Mississippi in 2015.

Promotion to Professor

Dr. Barbara Wang achieved the rank of Professor of Finance, which is the highest possible rank and is often referred to as “Full Professor.” Promotion and tenure is a privilege reserved for faculty members who have demonstrated professional accomplishments in instructional responsibilities, intellectual contributions, and service.

Dr. Wang joined the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business in 2007. She received a B.A. in accounting from China Institute of Finance and Banking in 1998 and a Ph.D. in finance from The University of Alabama in 2007.
