Dr. Trevor Watkins has served as an Assistant Professor of Management at the Engler College of Business since 2019. Prior to this academic appointment, he obtained a PhD from the University of Washington. He teaches courses and conducts research related to employee and organizational health and well-being. At his core, he believes that a balanced life is the good life. He is proud to live in the Lone Star state, particularly in Small Town USA, which has treated him and his family well. He currently lives in Canyon, Texas, and after experiencing the five-minute bicycle commute to work, he can’t see himself ever living far away from the office again. When not at the college, Dr. Watkins can be found engaged with his family at swimming pools, hiking trails, and local venues in Canyon such as the Square and Southeast Park.

This year, Dr. Watkins has made several key impactful contributions to the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. Dr. Watkins is honored as the recipient of the 2021 Teaching Excellence Award, which is peer acknowledgement of significant contributions in this critically important function of the College. In April of 2021, Dr. Watkins achieved a career milestone in the publication of his article “Workplace Interpersonal Capitalization: Employee Reactions to Coworker Positive Event Disclosures” in the Academy of Management Journal, which is a highly-prestigious outlet for Dr. Watkins’ research.
